It has been played by this customer, who was a re-beginner, for a period of about three years, after which period of time this piano player decided on a Sauter piano, which actually i s a lot better in many regards. Nevertheless, the Carl Ebel piano is a respectable instrument for beginners.

		We have completely restored the acoustic system of this Grotrian piano. We gave the instrument a set of new bass strings, a set of new steel strings, new tuning pegs and a new bass bridge. The action has been newly adjusted, and within all this regulating work we also filed the original hammers, which were still in pretty good condition. Filing the hammers is equal to shaping them or rather restoring their original shape, because the hammers can show a lot of indendation as a result of frequent and heavy playing, but in this case the indents made by the strings weren't so deep. - The sound of the piano can be called "transparent", "lucid" and "far bearing". - The surface of the instrument has been given a new hot-spray coat in black polyester varnish (a special piano lacquer) and in additon has been high-polished after that.

Neufeld was a well known piano manufacturer in Berlin, who participated in the piano-forte boom of the so called "Gründerzeit", the "Founder Epoch" 1871 - 1873, dating from the foundation of the Second Reich on January 18th 1871 till the great stock market crash of 1873, which ruined thousands of Germans. But Neufeld survived financially, even prospered. His business company existed until 1937. - Our instrument is a magnificent specimen, probably build between 1890 and 1900. It's height: a proud 1 meter and 53 cm. - We have renovated the instrument completely. A clear and full bass and a fully voiced middle string segment give this piano the typically nostalgic sound so well loved in instruments at the turn of the century of 1900. Not only it's form close to perfection is impressive, also the shellac and walnut surface is a feast to the eyes.

Out of the variety of new trademark instruments completely manufactured in Germany we permanently have the following "labels" in stock: Sauter/Spaihingen, and Seiler/Kitzingen.

Of the imported instruments we always have Kawai/Japan and Webndl & Lung/Vienna (e.g. Ningbo) in stock.
Products of firms like Steingraeber, Schimmel, Yamaha, Bechstein or Steinway/Hamburg we have regularly in stock as used instruments. Please inform yourself about our current supply and our special offers in our price list for used instruments. The best way to learn about our present offerings is always to visit us personally in our show rooms. We continously have an extended exhibition of pianos and grand pianos always worthwhile seeing.

Information concerning used instruments (second hand):

Every second hand piano is sold with a five-year-guarantee!

No used piano leaves our house without having been checked thoroughly by our craftsmen and qualified skilled workers.

All instruments which are older than 30 years have been given a basic work-over, so that you will enjoy your instrument many years. An old instrument of high quality which has been repaired and renewed skillfully can give you great joy for many years to come.

Therefore sometimes second hand instruments of high quality may be more expensive than new ones. A good used one can very well be a long looked for rarity.

In principle we can repair and work over allmost every used piano in such a way that it attains the status of a completely new instrument. Beginning with the acoustic system with new bass strings and new steel strings, going on to new tuning pegs as well as a completely restored sounding board and a new Dilgnit sound post. Furthermore the action (mechanical playing system) gets new hammer heads, we put in new damper felts, new underlever frame cushions, new key lining; or we provide an absolutely new Renner mechanism and a whole new key board etc. etc. Last but by no means least we give the surface a treatment with shellac, hand polished of course, or a new varnish in high gloss polyester black oder any other color the customer might have in mind. Also a new veneer of burk wood or maple or walnut or cherry is possible.

Information concerning digital pianos:

Digital pianos are available any time so far you settle for one of the two leading brands: Kawai or Yamaha. Any other new instruments we do not have in our show rooms for the time being can be ordered within two days for our customers.

The advantages of a digital piano as opposed to the regular acoustic piano are obvious:
a) You can play and make music any time of the day - and the night! - without maltreating your neighbor, you play with a head set.
b) A digital piano is usually much cheaper than an acoustic piano.
c) There are no current costs, for example paying a piano tuner, and you don't need a freight company for transportation when you move to a new home.
d) A digital piano takes up less space than a piano (or grand piano!).

But - there are but's...:

If you wanted the real piano sound, your digital piano leaves you high and dry: even the best and most expensive digital piano does not reach the authentic sound of an acoustic piano.That is a fact and it will always be a fact. Let alone for physical reasons, we don't want to discuss at lenght right here on this page, but which we will gladly demonstrate, if care to drop by and take a better look at our instruments in reality.

Maybe you already have an acoustic piano, and you wish to participate in the advantage of a digital piano being playable all around the clock. Then we could introduce to you one of our silent systems which we can install in your piano supplementarily. We sell a lot of pianos with a build-in silent system, and we can also install one additionally in any acoustic piano. We would enjoy to enrichen your acoustic piano with a new silent system. Or we could sell you a new piano complete with a silent system. The price for an aditional installation amounts to something between € 1.300,00 and € 1.800,00 depending on the system and the piano. For a grand piano the aditional installation of a silent system amounts to about € 2.000,00.
